SABOTAGILE MANIFESTO

November 27, 2016

Manifesto for SabotAgile Software Development

We are uncovering better ways of

faking Agile Software development,

defending the status quo, and

advancing our careers.

Through this work we have come to value:

Defining rigorous processes with Milestones, Phase Gates, and Audit Trails

Tracking project and program progress with Gantt Charts, %-age completion reports and Red-Yellow-Green executive dashboards

Holding resources accountable with baselined contracts with fixed-scope, fixed-dates, fixed-costs

Preventing a descent into chaos with rigorous change control boards

Integrating phrases from flavor of the decade fads into lingo without changing behavior

This is how we have delivered software in the real world for decades.

And this is how we are going to do it!

    Hi Ravi,
I’m a French Agilist working at Wallix a french Software Editor of IT Security Tools based in Paris. I’m no coach, I’m a mere senior dev working as manager in a self-managed team. I practice Agile since about 10 years, mostly XP (not Scrum, we developped our own ways inside the team over the time, but it’s another story).
I’m working on an introductive speach (in French) about Agile based on my experience in several Agile and non Agile teams over 30 years in IT. I’d like to focus on Agile Manifesto (starting with fundamentals), cultural differences between Agile and non-Agile firms and effects on team structures and people’s roles. Not focusing much on rituals and technical practices (maybe in other speeches if this one is successful). I would also like to speak about firms claiming loudly they are Agile while it’s mere (small) talk. I’d like to base that part of my speech on Sabot-Agile, which I see as very true and up to the point, and also not too boring or advocating (ok, I mean it’s really fun… if it weren’t so sad) .

As SabotAgile! is copyrighted material and what I did is a french adaptation more than a mere translation, I need your permission to use that. Of course I would reference you and SmoothApps as original Author. By the way, it’s about a French translation I wrote I’m speaking. Yet unpublished – again copyright issues – and it’s of course available for you if you want.

      Chris,
I am honored to hear that my ideas might be valuable in your context.

Please feel free to use the material and translate to French. Please attribute back to my original site.

Thanks for the professional courtesy and for being ethical.

      Scrum On!
      Ravi.
